Clinical & Musician Services Policies
Hand Therapy Learning Lab is the educational branch of Restore Performance LLC.
Founded by a Certified Hand Therapist, it provides professional education, courses, and resources that help healthcare professionals strengthen their clinical skills and improve patient care. While Restore Performance focuses on helping musicians return to playing, Hand Therapy Learning Lab focuses on educating the professionals who care for them.
-
Restore Performance LLC provides specialized professional services for musicians experiencing pain, injury, or physical limitations affecting their ability to perform.
Services draw upon expertise in occupational therapy, certified hand therapy, upper-extremity rehabilitation, ergonomics, and professional musical performance.
Our approach considers the physical demands of advanced musicianship, including strength, dexterity, coordination, endurance, repetition, and instrument-specific movement.
Services may include individualized assessment, education, performance-related movement analysis, ergonomic recommendations, therapeutic exercise, and return-to-performance planning.
Who These Services Are For
Our virtual services are designed primarily for professional and advanced musicians who:
Are returning to playing following an injury.
Experience performance-related pain or physical limitations.
Need guidance progressing toward the technical demands of their instrument.
Want to improve playing tolerance, strength, dexterity, or endurance.
Would benefit from individualized recommendations addressing instrument-specific physical demands.
Limitations
Virtual services are not appropriate for every condition. They are not intended to replace immediate postoperative rehabilitation, emergency medical services, or hands-on treatment when in-person care is necessary.
Recommendations are based on the information available during the assessment and may change as additional information becomes available.
Services do not guarantee complete symptom resolution, a specific recovery timeline, or return to a particular performance level.
Restore Performance may recommend additional medical evaluation, local rehabilitation services, or other professional care when appropriate.

Restore Performance LLC provides eligible services through live video appointments.
Telehealth allows clients and clinicians to communicate and participate in certain professional services without being physically present in the same location.
Nature of Virtual Services
During a virtual appointment, the clinician may discuss symptoms, review relevant history, observe movement, assess functional performance, and provide individualized recommendations within the scope of services authorized for that client.
Clients acknowledge that virtual assessment differs from an in-person examination.
Some clinical findings require physical examination, specialized testing, or hands-on assessment that cannot be adequately performed through video.
When necessary, Restore Performance will recommend in-person assessment or additional professional services.
Potential Benefits
Potential benefits include improved access to specialized expertise, reduced travel requirements, and the ability to assess instrument-specific performance in the client's usual playing environment.
Potential Limitations and Risks
Potential limitations include:
Inability to perform certain hands-on examinations or treatments.
Restrictions in the accuracy of video-based observation.
Technical interruptions.
Privacy and information-security risks associated with electronic communication.
Need for additional clinical assessment or local professional services.
No particular clinical outcome or return-to-performance timeline can be guaranteed.
Client Participation
Clients agree to provide accurate information relevant to the assessment and to communicate changes in symptoms, function, or circumstances that may affect the appropriateness of virtual services.
Clients should participate from a reasonably private environment with adequate lighting, a stable internet connection, and sufficient space to perform appropriate movements.
Their instrument should be available when requested.
Clients may ask questions about recommendations and may decline or discontinue a proposed intervention.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Restore Performance uses designated communication and documentation systems intended to support appropriate privacy and confidentiality.
Clients are encouraged to use private, secure internet connections and avoid participating in appointments from public locations.
Neither party will record a session without appropriate prior agreement and authorization.
Clinical information will be managed according to applicable privacy and professional requirements.
Other Participants
Clients may request that an authorized individual participate in their appointment.
The presence of additional individuals should be disclosed and agreed upon before participation.
Restore Performance will also disclose the presence of any additional personnel involved in providing the service.
Withdrawal of Consent
Clients may ask questions about telehealth services at any point.
Clients may withdraw consent to participate in telehealth services.
Withdrawing consent does not eliminate financial obligations for services already provided. Unused prepaid appointments remain subject to applicable cancellation and refund policies.
Restore Performance may recommend discontinuing telehealth when remote services are no longer clinically appropriate.
-
Client Location & International Services
Restore Performance LLC provides services within the professional and legal requirements applicable to the client and clinician.
The availability of individualized clinical services may depend on the client's physical location at the time of the appointment.
Clients are responsible for accurately identifying their physical location and notifying Restore Performance if that location changes.
Before providing services, Restore Performance will determine whether the proposed service is appropriate and authorized in the relevant jurisdiction.
If clinical services cannot be provided lawfully or appropriately, Restore Performance may recommend an alternative service or local provider.
When a purchased service cannot be provided because applicable practice requirements prohibit it, fees for services not delivered will be refunded according to applicable law and the circumstances of the purchase.
Emergency & Urgent Medical Situations
Restore Performance's virtual services are not intended to provide emergency or urgent medical care.
Clients experiencing a medical emergency should contact the emergency services available in their current location.
In the United States, this generally means calling 911.
International clients should use the emergency telephone number and healthcare resources available in their country.
Restore Performance may request an emergency contact and the client's physical location when appropriate for safe service delivery.
If an emergency arises during a virtual appointment, the clinician may recommend immediate local medical care or take other actions permitted or required by applicable law.
-
Professional Relationship
An individualized professional relationship is established through the applicable service agreement, informed-consent process, and initiation of professional services.
Purchasing educational materials, reading website content, or submitting a general inquiry does not independently establish a clinician-patient relationship.
Clinical Documentation
Where clinical services are provided, Restore Performance maintains records according to applicable professional and legal requirements.
Clients may request access to records according to applicable law and professional standards.
General website policies do not override professional obligations concerning confidentiality, documentation, referrals, or continuity of care.
Questions & Concerns
Clients are encouraged to discuss questions about services, scheduling, recommendations, payment, or policies directly with Restore Performance LLC.
Concerns about clinical services will be reviewed according to applicable professional standards and legal requirements.
Nothing in these policies restricts a client's right to contact an appropriate professional licensing authority, seek legal advice, or exercise rights protected by law.
-
Restore Performance LLC and Hand Therapy Learning Lab support professional education through lectures, workshops, courses, publications, and other educational activities.
Clinical experiences and case examples may be used to illustrate assessment findings, clinical reasoning, treatment approaches, rehabilitation strategies, and professional decision-making.
Protection of Client Privacy
Client confidentiality is maintained in accordance with applicable professional and privacy requirements.
Clinical cases may be presented using appropriately de-identified information when permitted by law. Identifying details are removed or modified to protect client privacy.
Permission to Use Identifiable Information
When educational materials include identifiable client information, photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, or other potentially identifying details, Restore Performance LLC will obtain appropriate written authorization before using or disclosing those materials.
Clients will be informed of the specific materials requested, their intended educational use, and the audiences or platforms where they may be presented.
Voluntary Participation
Permission to use identifiable clinical information for educational purposes is entirely voluntary.
Declining permission will not affect access to services, the quality of care provided, or the professional relationship.
Clients may revoke authorization in writing, subject to applicable law. Revocation will prevent future uses covered by the authorization, but materials already disclosed or distributed may not be fully retrievable.
Restore Performance LLC will not record clinical appointments for educational purposes without appropriate prior authorization.
Authorization for identifiable educational case use is obtained separately from clinical consent and is not required to receive services.
